Kisha Pungsayan, an MS Environmental Science student at the Institute of Environmental Science and Meteorology (IESM), presented research on marine mammal strandings at the 2026 Biodiversity Science Forum organized by the ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from 30 September to 1 October 2026.

The study, titled “Remote sensing-based biodiversity indicators of marine mammal strandings in Lingayen Gulf from 2018 to 2025,” was co-authored with Dr. R. Sedricke Lapuz and Dr. Lemnuel Aragones. It examines the use of remote sensing-based biodiversity indicators in relation to marine mammal stranding patterns in Lingayen Gulf over an eight-year period.

The presentation formed part of the forum’s discussions on biodiversity research and monitoring in the region, with Pungsayan’s study contributing a marine mammal and remote sensing perspective to the program.
