The Marine Mammal Research and Conservation Laboratory (MMRCL), University of the Philippines Diliman, received a Plaque of Commendation from the Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Regional Fisheries Office I (DA-BFAR RFO I) on 21 September 2026.

The commendation recognized MMRCL’s support in responding to marine mammal strandings and its participation in collaborative response efforts for the protection and conservation of marine wildlife. The plaque also cited the laboratory’s contributions to safeguarding marine life and coastal and marine ecosystems.

The recognition reflects MMRCL’s continuing work with partner institutions and responders in marine mammal stranding response, research, and conservation.
