Faculty members from the College of Maritime, National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology (NKUST) visited the UP Diliman Institute of Environmental Science and Meteorology (IESM) for a joint research seminar on 4 September 2026 at the IESM Auditorium. The seminar featured ongoing collaborative research between NKUST and IESM faculty in the areas of seaport emissions, air quality, and environmental transport processes.

Prof. Tseng Yu-Lun presented “Influences of Ship Emissions from an Asian Seaport on Ambient PM2.5 of Nearby Metropolitan Area: Field Sampling and Model Simulation,” a study conducted in collaboration with IESM faculty member Prof. Gerry Bagtasa. Prof. Cheng Wen-Hsi presented “Emissions of Volatile Organic Compounds across Air-Water Interface: from Taytay River to Marine Environment,” conducted in collaboration with Dr. Mylene Cayetano. The presentations highlighted research examining how maritime and coastal activities interact with atmospheric and environmental processes.

The seminar also included a talk by Prof. Chou Chien-Chang, Dean of the NKUST College of Maritime, who introduced the College’s graduate programs and discussed possible faculty and student exchanges between NKUST and UP. The activity provided a venue for sharing current research and exploring further academic collaboration between the two institutions.
