Weathernews Inc. and the WNI WxBunka Foundation organized the Weather Marketing Seminar: Weather Business Market in the World on 29 July 2026, with the UP Institute of Environmental Science and Meteorology serving as host. Held at the IESM Auditorium and online via Zoom, the seminar introduced students to the growing role of meteorology and weather information in business and society.

Weathernews Chairman and CEO Chihito Kusabiraki, joined by Hirokazu Koro, discussed the global private weather industry and the use of specialized weather information in shipping, aviation, energy, retail, broadcasting, and consumer services. They also highlighted career, internship, and professional opportunities for students and graduates in meteorology, environmental science, data analysis, and related fields.

The WNI WxBunka Foundation also announced the second round of its Satellite Observation Data Utilization Contest, which is seeking undergraduate and graduate student participants from across the Asia-Pacific region. Students may participate individually or in teams and use satellite data to investigate weather, climate, oceans, agriculture, environmental conditions, and natural hazards.

Through initiatives such as the seminar and satellite contest, Weathernews Inc. and the WNI WxBunka Foundation are helping open new pathways for students to engage with the global weather enterprise. IESM looks forward to supporting its students and graduates as they develop the skills, partnerships, and ideas needed to contribute to a stronger and more resilient weather sector in the Philippines and beyond.
