UP-IESM and MWSS Seal Partnership for AI-SWaMP Project

The University of the Philippines Institute of Environmental Science and Meteorology (UP-IESM) and the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) have formally entered into a partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the project Artificial Intelligence-based Sustainable Water Resources Management in the Philippines (AI-SWaMP).

The ceremonial signing was held at the MWSS Administration Building in Balara, Quezon City. The agreement paves the way for the sharing and exchange of vital data to support research and innovation in sustainable water management.

  • Patrick James B. Dizon, Manager, MWSS–Engineering and Technical Operations Group (ETOG) Water and Sewerage Management Department

The AI-SWaMP Project runs from December 2024 to November 2027 and is funded under the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Grants-in-Aid Program. The initiative is led by the Environmental Hydrology Laboratory of UP-IESM and implemented in collaboration with the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (DOST-PAGASA) and Pusan National University (South Korea).
