Profile

Joseph Dominic H. Palermo, PhD
Assistant Professor
Head: (OCEANS) Observatory for the Conservation of Ecosystems and Nature-based Solutions
Educational Background
- PhD Environmental Science (University of the Philippines Diliman, 2021)
- MS Environmental Science (University of the Philippines Diliman, 2006)
- Postgraduate Certificate in Ocean Observatories (Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences, 2009)
Research Interests
Jaydee is interested in various quantitative methods for studying the interactions among organisms, their environment, and human impacts over spatio-temporal scales. He integrates molecular, micro techniques, GIS-remote sensing, modeling, and environmental data analytics for impact assessment, ecosystem conservation, and nature-based solutions. While he is committed to diversifying and integrating various aspects of Environmental Science, he has worked extensively in marine and freshwater ecosystems throughout the archipelago across the biota of phytoplankton, zooplankton, meiofauna, and pelagic fish with their associated parasites.
