Forty-one technical officers from the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) completed a specialized training program on meteorology and its impact on air quality on July 17, 2025. The training, conducted by the University of the Philippines-Institute of Environmental Science and Meteorology (UP-IESM), aimed to strengthen the officers’ capabilities in air quality monitoring and data analysis.

The program included 42 virtual sessions and hands-on laboratory activities, totaling 126 hours. Participants also visited key meteorological facilities such as the PAGASA Science Garden and Synoptic Station in Tanay, Rizal, to gain practical experience with weather instruments and data interpretation.

EMB Assistant Director Maria Dorica Naz-Hipe emphasized the importance of the program in enhancing the agency’s capacity to develop evidence-based policies and improve environmental enforcement. Graduates are expected to contribute to improved air quality management nationwide by refining monitoring systems, supporting policy development, and increasing public awareness.

The second batch of trainees came from EMB’s Central and Regional Offices, representing various divisions focused on solid waste, hazardous waste, water, and air quality management.
