IESM faculty member Dr. Benjamin Vallejo Jr, IESM alumni Asst. Prof. Melody Anne Ocampo (MS Env Sci 2010) of UP Manila  and Alexander B. Aloy (MS Env Sci 2012), and now PhD candidate in UNSW Australia  have published the latest contribution on Manila Bay fouling ecology in the book.Impact of Invasive Species on Coastal Environments published by Springer, Cham Switzerland which has come out of the press and will be available on the book shelves in January 2019. Their chapter is on Manila Bay Ecology and Associated Invasive Species in which they describe 10 years of intensive monitoring of the Port of Manila for invasive species including the detection of a new invasive species of mussel, the Charru mussel Mytella charruana.
